P90X Coach Leslie Andersen – Extreme Results

Nutriton

Q: What does it mean to eat “clean”?

A: Eating clean means to eat whole, natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates. It also means staying away from the junk! These types of food include man-made sugar, bad fats (hydrogenated, trans-fat), preservatives, white bread, and any other ingredients that are unnecessary. Making the decision to eat clean was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I owe it all t0 P90X! For more on eating clean, click here.

Q: Can you create a meal plan for me?

A: I don’t create meal plans for individual as I am not a nutritionalist. However, I’m willing to help as much as I can when you have questions about your diet needs. One thing I highly recommend getting is the Club Membership, which does create custom meal plans for you. To learn more about the benefits of the Club Membership, click here. I also recommend using my fitnesspal.com to help keep track of your daily caloric intake.

Q: Do you have any tips to gaining mass?

A: Yes, click here!

Q: Do you know of any healthy meal replacements?

A: Yes, Shakeology!! I have been using Shakeology as a meal replacement and have seen amazing results from it. My cravings are gone, I’m more energized and I lost 3lbs of body fat when I didn’t even know I had any more to lose! It’s by far the best supplement that I have used and has helped me maintain my results for years. I recommend Shakeology to everyone whether you are trying to lose weight, bulk, or just eat healthy. Q: Did you follow the Nutrition Guide?

A: Yes, I followed the Nutrition Guide! I followed the Portion Plan, not the Menu Plan, although I did make some of the recipes that the menu offered, my favorite is the Island Pork Tenderloin…YUMMY!  It’s very important that you follow the proper fat/carb/protein % for each phase in the Nutrition Guide. It’s 20/30/50 for phase 1, 20/40/40 for phase 2, and 20/50/30 for phase 3. In order to keep track of everything, I kept a  log about everything I ate.

Q: I feel the Nutrition Guide is recommending too many calories, should I force myself to eat all of them?

A: It is important to feed your body enough food to make sure you don’t run out of gas throughout the workouts. With that said, you need to burn more calories than you’re taking in to lose weight. You don’t want to eat until you are stuffed, only eat until you are satisfied, or comfortable. If you would like to send me your height and weight and your goals of either losing weight or gaining mass, I will be happy to tell you how many calories you want to take in. Again, myftnesspal.com will help you determine how many calories you should be taking in on a daily basis as well as help you keep track of the calories your taking in.

Q: Is it really that important to follow the diet?

A: Yes,  diet is 80% of any workout program. If you want excellent results, you must commit to the diet! I committed myself 100% to the diet and the workouts, not even cheating 1 time in 90 days! I challenge you to do the same!

Q: What will happen if I have a cheat meal?

A: If you decided to have a “cheat day” or “cheat meal”  it will slow your results down which is very discouraging when you’re working so hard to get them. Like I said before, diet is 80%, which means the workouts are only 20% of your results. It could take days to work off your cheat meal, so need to ask yourself, is it worth it? Once you reach your goal, it’s ok to cheat every once in a while, but you still want to keep it to a minimum.

 Q. If I’m not hungry, can I skip a meal?

A: I don’t recommend skipping meals. If you aren’t that hungry, I would still have something small to feed your body, like 2 oz of almonds or a stick of low fat string cheese. Your body needs to be fed every 2-3 hours in to replenish its self, especially while putting it through an extreme workout.

Q: I am on the road a lot and don’t have time to eat healthy. What should I do?

A: As I said before, eating healthy is the key to awesome results. If your on the road or constantly on the go, you can pack yourself meals and store them in a hand held cooler. Shakeology is in my opinion the best “meal on the go” you can have! You can shake it up with skim milk or water and you’re good to go. Quick and healthy all wrapped into one. If you have no choice but to stop at a fast food restaurant, make sure you make smart choices (ex: grilled chicken with salad with low fat dressing on the side). There is also a fast food guide in the back of your P90X Nutrition guide that can help you make good food choices.

Q: I feel like I have no energy throughout the day. What should I do?

A: When you start to feel like your energy levels have been dropping, you need to increase the amount of carbs your taking in. For example, if you decide to follow the Fat Shredder phase for 2 months, and start to become low on energy, switch to Phase 2, which has higher carbs.

Q: I lost my Nutrition Guide. Do you know if I can purchase a new one from Beachbody?

A: If you purchased the P90X program from a coach or from the main Beachbody site, then you should be able to contact BeachbodyCustomer Service and purchase a new one. If you purchased the program through a 3rd party site and didn’t receive the Nutrition Guide, then you will not be able to purchase it.

Q: I’m a woman and worried about getting too muscular with P90X? Should this be a concern?

A: No, not at all! I’m a woman and started the program at 126 lbs and ended up losing 10lbs after 1 round. I followed the Classic version, which is a balance of cardio and resistance training, and used light weights and higher reps. I got very toned, and but not bulky. I’ve complted  P90X  3 times now, and am currently down to 110lbs.

Q: Is it OK to workout on an empty stomach in the morning?

A: I recommend having a simple carbbefore an early morning workout, like a piece of toast with jam or an apple. This will give you the energy you need to get through the workout. You want to give your body time to digest, at least 30 minutes to an hour, so take that into consideration before your workout. The most important time to eat is after the workout. I recommend taking the Recovery Formula, and then eating  breakfast afterwards.

Q: Can I drink alcohol whole doing P90X, Insanity, or any other Beachbody program?

A: It’s obviously better to stay away from any alcohol while doing P90X, but if you do decide to have a few drinks, make sure it’s a light drink such as Rum and Diet Coke or Select 55.

Q: Is it OK to drink coffee?

A: There is nothing wrong with drinking coffee, just as long as you use artificial sweetener and a sugar free creamer.

Q: Can I stay on Phase 1 of the Nutrition Guide for longer than a month?

A: Yes! If you feel you need to lose more body fat and are doing will with the plan there is no problem staying on phase 1. If you start to feel burned out and tired, you may need more carbs and I recommend moving onto phase 2.
